We enjoyed Sky Pavilion so much that we came back again the very next day! This time we tried the spicy pork ear appetizer and the Mala “Double-Crispy” dish, and both were excellent. The pork ear was crunchy and refreshing with a flavorful spicy dressing, while the Mala Double-Crispy was incredibly aromatic, spicy, and packed with Sichuan peppercorn flavor. The portions were very generous as well. After two visits in two days, this has definitely become one of our favorite Sichuan restaurants in NYC. Authentic flavors, great food, and absolutely worth coming back for! Highly recommend!

General Review: Would recommend the Szechuan dishes more than the Cantonese place, which makes sense as they take up the majority of the large menu. I went to this place a while ago with a large group as part of many Chinese New Year celebrations I went to earlier in the year. The staff was friendly and pretty quick regarding refilling water or tea. I didn't bother with a drink, though some others had a beer or soft drink. For the location, I was surprised by how many Szechuan/Sichuan dishes were on the menu, with there also being Cantonese dishes, a couple of Shanghainese things, and a separate small section on the back for American Chinese food. We mostly got their specialty, Szechuan. The first thing that arrived was the Strange Peanuts for $7.95, soon after our host finished ordering. The word "strange" here refers to Guaiwei, a Szechuan mix of flavors and spices. The flavor on the outside of the peanuts included some sweetness, sourness, heat, and numbingness from peppercorn. It was tasty and addictive, and I could see myself munching on them while drinking or something similar. Another appetizer was the Mr and Mrs. Smith, or Ox Tongue & Beef Tripe in Spicy Sauce for $16.95

Absolutely loved this place! We ordered the whole fish and it was honestly one of the best dishes I’ve had in a while. Super fresh, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The topping with chopped peppers, garlic, and herbs made it really fragrant and slightly spicy in the best way. The fish was tender and easy to eat, you can tell they know what they’re doing. The dessert was also amazing—light, refreshing, and not too sweet. It was the perfect way to end the meal, especially after such a flavorful main dish. Portion sizes are generous, presentation is nice, and everything felt high quality. The vibe is casual and comfortable, great for hanging out with friends. Service was friendly and attentive too. Overall, such a great experience. Definitely coming back and would recommend to anyone looking for really good Chinese food! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Authentic Sichuan place by Times Square. Attracts a mixed crowd of locals and tourists toting luggage. Good flavors! The pork is mild, the fish is spicy and crispy good. It has bones so be prepared to work for your food! It’s worth the effort for sure. Staff is super nice and helpful with recommendations. Recommended!

We had the most amazing and flavorful Szechuan style sliced pork belly. The Chinese bacon with cauliflower was also fabulous. Even though this sounds random, the fried rice cake with brown sugar is my personal favorite. The sweet rice dumplings were also good. You should give it a try. You probably won’t regret it.
